I interviewed Harvey Hancock on a couple of topics; his
earliest memory, and his second most interesting moment.
Harvey’s earliest memory is more of a collaborative memory,
it draws together a number of aspects of his childhood in reception, with two
friends Stephen and Joseph. His memories range from colouring ‘Vase of Violets’
to listening to bear-orientated stories.
He has strong feelings of friendship and happiness
associated with these memories. As he recalled the ‘beautiful girls’ - of which
there was a 5:1 ratio to his male classmates a wistful glint appeared in his
eye.
Harvey’s affection for his school days weren’t necessarily
all laced with such joy, though, as he recalled the trauma of leaving at the
end of the day. Surrendering his place at the Red Table – described as ‘the
place to be’, by Mr Hancock – and returning to his miserable home life saw his
upbeat mood wane.
His next memory saw him cast forward many years to last
summer. The 11th-17th of June 2012 was a period in which
himself and a group of friends frequented Centre Parcs together; one particular
time at this leafy park drew his attention – the night that Jonny and Jeno
(under pseudonyms to protect their identity) indulged in sexual contact.
Whilst not seeming to be such a heinous act at first thought, their actions had more than met the eye…
